'81 turbocharged 924

#1 Post by Raceboy »

Hello guys,

I am selling my turbocharged 924. The same engine was on my white 924 (until I went to 2,5 16v turbo route) and I swapped the engine to this red 924. I did the engine overhaul also that time so it has all the new gaskets, bearings and rings.
Here's a brief checklist:

*IHI KHF-1A turbo
*EFI conversion, 370cc injectors, Bosch 3.0 bar FPR
*custom stainless steel 2.25" intake plumbing
* 2.5" downpipe
*SPEC Stage III+ lightweight clutch kit with 6-puck plate (it is VERY streetable).
*VEMS v3.5 ECU (also wired launch control and shiftlight)
*2x2 coil-pack
*944 5lug brake conversion (all new pads, calipers have been taken apart, sandblasted and powdercoated)
*17x7, 17x9 Porsche Cup wheels, originals, not replicas.

Interior:
*4way electric seats from '90 951 Club Sport (driver seat is heated)
*split rear seat option from the same car
*electric windows (work perfectly).
*electris and heated mirrors

Car drives very well and is perfectly usable as daily driver (drives like a normal car, no hiccups, hesitation etc) and gets good gas mileage (~7-7,5 l/100 km on the highway, 10-11l/100 km city) and is very quick. I tested the car with RaceLogic Performance Box and it reached 0-100 km/h in just 5,8 seconds (that nothing in the car removed (spare wheel, half tank of gasoline etc) and top speed is 257 km/h. From standing 1km distance the speed was trapped 206 km/h (brand new Mitsubishi EVO X reached 199 kph).
The dyno sheet shows wheel hp and wheel lb/ft, rough estimate gives arund 250 hp/320 Nm at the flywheel. This setup has been very durable and no issues regarding turbo, cylinders etc have risen during few years of usage. Engine has around 8000 km's since rebuild.

Only issues the car has are related to body: dash is cracked (one might think that this option was installed in the factory :D) and sills have some rust in the underside (not visible outside but this srea needs some work).

Price of the car is 3500 euros which is not even remotely what I've put in it but since the body needs some work, I think it is fair. Car is located in Estonia, but I can deliver the car to Sweden if someone is really interested.

Here's few photos of the car:

And dyno chart (notice the nice flat torque curve):

Here's a link to a thread in Estonian message board where you can see some photos of the engine assembly, intercooler fabrication etc: http://foorum.turboclub.ee/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5714" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's in Estonian, but photos are sort of universal what concerns the language :D

Oh, I forgot to mention, the car is honestly fast and only 968 Turbo or 924 Carrera GTR is faster in stock form and it blows the doors off of any 924/944 stock car including 944 Turbo (is even bit faster than Turbo S).

Even though there has been some interest in the car, I still haven't sold it and it is looking for new loving home.

I took it for a shakedown run in the weekend and took a video with the cell phone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUk-zxdL ... ture=share" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now it's time for a thorough cleanup and it is waiting for a new happy owner!
