Kort styrväxel

Är på jakt efter en kort styrväxel till min 944:a. Jag har inte servo - vad man nu har det till - så jag misstänker att Golf 1 eller 2 styrväxel borde passa. Så - vem säljer korta växlar till våra bilar eller till Golf? Vet att Sellholm har - men har nån firma i USA också det?? Tänkte väl under 2varv lock-to-lock.

Montera en utväxling på rattstången, billigt och inte så tungt som man kan tro.

Kommer inte på vad dom heter just nu, men google borde ha svaret. Dom finns bl.a. på ebay med olika utväxlingar.

Qaife kan tillverka kortare stryväxlar till Porsche, men efterfrågan är inte tillräckligt stor. Högerstyrda Golf I borde vara rätt utgångsmaterial, men passar inte fullt så enkelt tyvärr. Har också funderar på de där "steering quickener" men är rädd att ytterligare drev och vinkelväxlar kommer förstöra känslan helt. Litar inte på amerikaners uppfattning om styrkänsla :roll:

2 varv lock-lock, breda däck och avsaknad av styrservo, du måste vara stark :shock:

Pär hadde nån kort Opelstyrväxel på sin 931, men vilken det var vet jag inte.
Kan tänka mig ex. kadett rally eller manta kanske?

Original rack can be modified. Either power or manual versions available. These internal parts are made in Finland. Many Swedish rally & track car use this product.

These parts looks greate!

Could you please specify ratio std vs modify?
How many turns on steering-weel end to end?
What whould your price be for a power version. Send PM if you prefer.

How much is the non-power version? How many turns lock-to-lock? Any link to the manufacturer?

That company has made these parts over 20 years, mainly for BMW ZF-units. I know also some 944's which has their product. They have been in business since 1957, starting from drive axels for tractors. From that they expanded to rally/track/Drag Race axels. ZF racks are not the only one they modify, also Subaru and Mitsubishi rally car versions are available. Most common BMW racks they build are either 2,5 or 2,7 turns from lock to lock. They can make it as fast as you like... Both manual & power versions available. Price is around 700€ including all newly manufactured gearing made just for your rack and also all new gaskets, so it's a total rebuild. If you are a owner of the Swedish company with the Swedish VAT number according to EU regulations you do not have to pay the Finnish VAT, so the price is around 600€.
I do not sell these racks, i am not connected to this company at all, just customer. They have a website, sorry only in Finnish, but i suppose you can manage ;)

Raw material they use is delivered by the same Finnish steel company which also is a subcontractor for Volvo, so quality should be good.

P.S there might be another company as well who manufactures these parts in Finland, have to find out. The rumor has it; they make these parts much cheaper.

hello Olli,
Have you found the alternative supplier of rack /pinions for quicker steering? I have a bent original rack after a race incident, and should like a quicker steering.

Var sätter man utväxlingsadaptern? Det är inte mycket plats, speciellt på Turbo. Vad kostar den?
